Three Ways to Style a Vintage Silver Platter
It is your grandma’s silver lazy susan, but it doesn’t need to be used just for fancy occasions with veggies!
See how I styled it three ways! Two are functional & practical, and one is purely for beauty!
1.
Breakfast on a Silver Platter
teas ~ oatmeal ~ cream ~ sugar
Breakfast for guests or an ordinary morning can be made special by serving it on a pretty tray! We are tea drinkers... Black tea is our favorite, and we drink it the English way with cream and sugar.
I set the lazy susan with instant oatmeal packets, two types of teas, sugar with vintage spoons, and a cute cow creamer! Pretty napkins and antique butter pats to rest your tea bag on, along with cute chicken tea cups on the side. I added a pretty vintage floral picture and the milk pitcher with flowers from our Spring HOME SUPPLY Co. Subscription Box! Who wouldn't want to wake up to this!?
2.
A Not So Lazy, Lazy Susan
tags ~ twine ~ stickers ~ scissors
If you have to work make your space work well and make it pretty! It makes the tasks more enjoyable!
Junkstock is in just a few weeks! It is time I start pricing and packing! I am forever losing my supplies in the mess of it all. I had a lightbulb moment and thought this lazy susan would be perfect to corral all the supplies in one place!
3.
Natures Beauty Deserves a Silver Platter
nest ~ feathers ~ clay pots ~ vintage buttons
I love putting together fancy with rustic and natural elements! It's unexpected! Clay pots with just the right amount of patina, a folk art bird I made years ago, and a faux plant topped with a cloche from our first quarterly HOME SUPPLY Co. Box sets the color palette for this display!
I love these antique buttons I bought at a flea market years ago! The neutral colors were perfect to add a little texture to the display! Buttons for eggs... a little more of the unexpected!
The wall behind the lazy susan center-piece seemed a bit plain. I taped up some vintage book pages with photos of birds. May not be everyone's style but, I like the look! It's easy and no holes in the plaster walls!
The next time you see grandma's fancy dishes or come across a silver platter at an estate sale think of all the possibilities of how it can be used! Make every day a little bit fancy with a vintage silver serving piece!
Of the the three ways I styled the lazy susan which is your favorite? I think I have to say... nature's pallet! But for now, I'm going to use it for my Junkstock pricing platter because the work must get done and sometimes (ok... who am I kidding, all the time!) I need a pretty space to motivate me!
Keep it Cozy... and a bit fancy!
Laurie :)
