A Chicken Wire Basket Isn't Just for Eggs!
It is the heart of the Summer HOME SUPPLY Co. Box!
Whether you’re serving up warm shortcakes, corralling napkins and utensils, displaying fresh-picked flowers, or gathering veggies this basket feels like it came straight from a farmhouse kitchen.
There’s something timeless about a wire basket — ours, featured in the Summer HSCo. Box, has that old soul feel like it’s been passed down from a grandmother’s farmhouse.
But don’t let its humble look fool you — this piece is endlessly useful.
Just peek at the ways we've used it!...
At the summer table:
Line it with a tea towel and serve warm biscuits, shortcakes, or your favorite sweet treat. Paired with the cute strawberry napkins, it's the easiest way to dress up casual entertaining.
Whether you’re hosting friends or just bringing a little order to your everyday, this wire basket proves that the simple things often bring the most joy.
It’s practical, pretty, and promises to be one of those go-to pieces you reach for season after season. (just think ... mini pumpkins in the fall!)
In the potting shed:
Use it to corral garden tools, clay pots, twine, a vintage seed packet or two. It turns clutter into something pretty and purposeful. (Plus, the green wooden handles? We can’t get enough.) The baskets came with a drab, reddish brown handles. I debated painting them, but I'm so glad I did! The green updates the basket just enough, and everyone seems to love it!
Here, I perched the basket full of rustic garden goods on top of an antique scale. It's my favorite vignette at the moment!... but, then Angel Vine makes anything look good! (one of my favorite plants!)
A campfire gathering: What's a weekend campfire without s'mores?
Make it extra sweet (and maybe just a little cuter) with this easy setup: Use coffee filters to hold the ingredients — graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate bars.
Add a warm fire and a summer night sky… and you’ve got yourself a picture-perfect evening.
It’s simple, and nostalgic— just how we like things around here!
Shelf life: Not every basket needs to be “put to use.”
Try simply styling it on a shelf or kitchen counter. Layer it in front of an antique breadboard, clip a couple of vintage recipe cards on the basket and finish off the shelf with other favorite kitchen goods!
It’s a quiet little moment that tells a story — and gives your basket a purpose even when it’s not corralling cookies or garden tools.
This hardworking basket would also be great for — gathering veggies from the garden, storing onions or potatoes in the pantry, and if you're lucky enough to have chickens, use it to collect fresh eggs from your feathered friends.
I hope you find lots of ways to use & style the cute, but hard working basket!
